In Memoriam – Dan Hodge

Dan Hodge 1953-2026

The Ohio Valley Region mourns the loss of Dan Hodge, a long-time member who passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday, September 12th. Dan was a dedicated member of the OVR SCCA for 31 years. During his time with the club, he contributed his skills in various roles, including crewing for several race teams and later joining LEC (Lake Erie Communications). His favorite role, however, was working as a starter, a position he held with passion and pride. Over the years, Dan discovered his true love for road racing and the world of SCCA race operations, where he worked tirelessly to ensure that competitions remained safe, fair, and fun for all participants. Throughout his tenure, Dan also served as the chief steward for 13 years at club races and other events within the Great Lakes Division, in addition to holding the position of Executive Steward for several years.

Dan was an asset to our club, serving on the Board of Directors and various committees for OVR over the years, as well as holding several officer positions. In recognition of his dedicated service, Dan was honored by the region and Great Lakes Division with multiple awards. Among his most recent roles, he served on OVR’s Race Committee and the Long-Term Planning Committee. Since 2023, Dan and his wife, Tari, have been co-chairs for OVR’s Annual Awards Banquet. To his wife, Tari, and his family, we extend our deepest condolences. Dan will be deeply missed by the SCCA road racing community and all of us at OVR.
