OVR 2025 Road Racing Awards
Here are the 2025 Ohio Valley Region Road Racing Award Winners!
The Phil Alspach Service To Racing Award: Dan Hodge
**This is presented to an individual who has consistently contributed their time and talents to race operation throughout the preceding season or over a cumulative period of time.
Ted Vedrinski Most Improved Driver Award: Madin Workman
**This award recognizes improvement in varied forms of an OVR driver during the racing season. The award was created in memory of Ted Vedrinski, Region Historian, driver school instructor, racer, volunteer, and all-around gentleman. Ted was very supportive of new drivers and expertly guided them through the school and licensing process.
The Champions Award: Brandon Lavender
**The Champions Award is based upon the mechanical and driving skills at the amateur level, as well as qualifying for the National Championship and/or lap records achieved during the season. The recipient of this award is determined by the Competition Committee with priority given to National competitors. In 1987 this award was donated by Shiela Vermeer and Dick Rose in memory of Doug Vermeer.
Novice Driver Of The Year: Parker Willis
**For outstanding performance of a driver during the first-year of road racing competition. This person must have started the year on a Novice Permit and gone on to obtain a full license or professional license.
Pro Racing Driver Of The Year: Patrick Gallagher
**Presented to an OVR member based on success at the professional level.
Regional Driver Of The Year: Kevin Bus
**Presented to a Regional race driver for consistent outstanding performance on track.
National Driver Of The Year: Matt Brannon
**Presented to a National race driver for consistent outstanding performance on track.
Road Race Driver Of The Year: Ray Mason
**Presented to an OVR driver who exhibited outstanding driving talents and represented the region on a national or professional level.
The Turtle Trophy: Mason Workman
**Competition Committee Chairman’s selection for an OVR driver who experienced a hardship on track. Given in good cheer with the hope for better luck next year.
